Logistika Magazine Issue 5 2011
Shortly before the start of the construction of an intermodal terminal in Sofia, representatives of the National Company “Railway Infrastructure” agreed to tell the readers of LOGISTIKA magazine about their other major project in the field of intermodal transportation – the terminal in Plovdiv. Veneta Peeva, Strategy Manager with the company, tells about the way the city of Plovdiv fits on the map of the European transport corridors, and about the prospects for a green light to this eagerly awaited project.
“The terminal is to be constructed in two stages. If the first stage is completed and operational by 2013, as planned, it will have ample capacity to function as it is at least until 2027-2028, when the maximum volume of 57,600 TEU is to be reached. The technological expansion of the terminal with development of rail and road transportation will be done on the west side of railway station Todor Kableshkov (near Plovdiv) in the direction to Sofia.”
