Value Added Services Offered by the 3PL Providers

21.12.2011

Logistika Magazine Issue 10 / December 2011

The survey includes 13 3PL companies that operate in Bulgaria. The logistics services providers share how they help their clients in achieving strategic improvements for their businesses, through investments in innovative and high-tech products. Just a key fact: when the producer outsources the supply chain management to a logistics operator, the producer or trade company pays only the expenses for the pallet space actually occupied as well as for the work which is actually done. In the peak seasons, the producer/trader pays a corresponding price, and in the weak seasons, when renting a smaller area, he pays less. Hence, the fixed costs turn into variable ones.

“There is no standard value-added service, each service is unique, and this is the great intellectual challenge for us. Of course, the experience of the 3PL provider is very important. The more unique cases you have solved, the easier it becomes to solve the next one,” says one of the participants in the survey – Marieta Grigorova, manager of Gebrüder Weiss in Bulgaria.
