Distribution Networks Seek Creative Solutions

The upcoming trends in the design and management of distribution networks in today’s unstable economic environment is the main subject of the survey “Distribution Networks 2010”. The survey was done among 235 companies and professionals from the logistics industry in May 2010. The target group of the survey included supply chain managers in production, trade and distribution companies from various industries, with particular focus on foods and beverages and retail. Respondents represent companies with an annual turnover starting under USD 100 million and up to USD 2.5 billion.
Two thirds of the respondents have confirmed that because of the economic challenges and the burden of the recession, they have made changes in the design of their distribution networks. The top areas of optimization are transportation, warehouse space and/or configuration and consolidation of supplier loads.
